TENP III pipeline construction project

TENP – a joint project between OGE and Fluxys TENP GmbH

Introductory text: TENP is one of Europe's most important natural gas connections. It runs from the German-Dutch border to the Swiss border.

The Trans Europa Naturgas Pipeline (TENP) is one of Europe's most important natural gas supply connections. Running for around 500 km from the German-Dutch border to the Swiss border, it consists of two pipelines: TENP I and TENP II.

From 2023, existing sections of TENP I had to be replaced. This includes a 28.7 km section between Schwarzach and Eckartsweier, a 30.5 km section between Hügelheim and Hüsingen, both in Baden-Württemberg, and a 51 km section between Mittelbrunn and Klingenmünster in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The replacement of the pipeline was carried out mainly following the same route as the old one. This project has been a technically necessary new construction that transformed TENP I into TENP III, which is now H2-ready. Commissioning took place in July 2025.

Trans Europa Naturgas Pipeline GmbH & Co. KG is a subsidiary of the two long-distance gas network operators, Open Grid Europe GmbH and Fluxys TENP GmbH. OGE was commissioned as the general planner for the TENP III network expansion.
