H2ercules Network
South-East

The H2ercules Network South-East connects the German hydrogen core network in Bavaria with the hydrogen infrastructure planned in the Czech Republic. Through this connection, hydrogen from Eastern Europe and the Baltic Sea region — and, potentially, from additional import corridors — can be transported to major consumption centers in Bavaria and other regions of Germany.

The project includes the Rothenstadt–Waidhaus and Rothenstadt–Forchheim pipeline sections. The natural gas pipeline from Rothenstadt to Waidhaus (approximately 29 km), which will be converted for hydrogen transport, connects to the planned hydrogen network in the Czech Republic. The newly constructed Rothenstadt–Forchheim section, which is with approximately 102 km significantly longer, provides the link to Bavaria’s consumption centers. Both pipeline sections, with approximately 131 km in total, are scheduled to go into operation in 2032. Project partner in addition to OGE is NaTran Deutschland. OGE and NaTran Deutschland are both shareholders of MEGAL.
