What we offer
You can look forward to these benefits
Anyone working on the supply network of the future should also be well supplied themselves. Be it a workation, sabbatical, health check or family advice — OGE has plenty to offer you too!
Our benefits are just as great as our colleagues
Your benefits
Onboarding
Welcome to OGE! At the beginning everything seems new and overwhelming, so we want to make it as easy as possible for you to get started: That’s why you’ll get the most important company information digitally as soon as you sign your contract, a welcome box on your first day of work, and an invite to a delicious cooking event in Essen together with other newcomers once you start.
Our new apprentices are also sent everything they need to know for a successful start before they begin their training. At various events, such as the barbecue afternoon in Altenessen or the get-to-know-you afternoons at our training locations, you can get to know your team even before you start work and make initial contacts so that it’s easier to get started. We won’t leave anyone high and dry: Before the training really gets underway, all new apprentices can enjoy the popular OGE sailing week where they not only have a go at sailing but also get to know others in their intake.
Modern and practical work environment
You get the latest IT hardware, two monitors and height-adjustable desks in our offices as standard. Your day-to-day work is made easier by modern software and many OGE-typical apps that help you find what you are looking for with just a few clicks.
When it comes to training, too, our equipment is unique: not only because all apprentices receive their own iPad for learning, but also because they learn their trade in Altenessen in one of Germany’s most modern training workshops.
Canteen and meal allowance
Your physical well-being is taken care of. Our three Essen locations have their own canteens where the teams serve a different menu every day and snacks that are both healthy and delicious. Here, we pay close attention to sustainability, regionality and seasonality. OGE also subsidises your meal, and apprentices even benefit from further discounts on their lunch — good for your wallet and your tastebuds!
We also offer individual meal options at our operating sites.
Attractive remuneration, first-class pension scheme and fringe benefits
On top of the very attractive salary and the additional Christmas bonus in November, all permanent employees at OGE receive variable remuneration in May. Our apprentices also receive a special payment as soon as they have completed their training with us and join us as a specialist.
OGE puts money into a company pension scheme for you, and if you also make contributions yourself, OGE will reward this by putting more money in too. You also have the opportunity to take out disability insurance at a reduced rate or apply for an interest-free building loan for your own four walls.
A helping hand for your health
Your health is important to us – which is why we support you with various benefits to help you stay well: With our 360°vitality programme, our health management team offers you regular campaigns and seminars on various health topics, such as stress management. We support you with important holistic check-ups, such as skin cancer screening, sponsor kits for the early detection of bowel cancer, or payments towards your breast cancer screening. In addition to free membership of the Urban Sports Club, you can also look forward to your annual budget for health extras, such as new vision aids. And if you ever need medical advice, our company doctors or psychologists at the Fürstenberg Institute will help you free of charge.
Mobility
Get to where you need to be: At OGE you can lease an (e-)bike or a car at a reduced rate. All our sites have an ample number of free parking spaces available for you. At three of our locations, you can even charge your vehicle, and our network of charging stations will continue to grow over the next few years. If you’d rather travel to work by bus or train, we will subsidise your Deutschlandticket. All three Essen locations are also well connected to the public transport network.
Apprentices receive a monthly flexibility bonus and a flat-rate subsidy to get a class B or B17 driving license or an (e-)bicycle.
Mobile working
If your job profile at OGE is compatible with mobile working, you can work up to three days a week from home or while you’re on the move, for example on the train. You then coordinate with your team to set team days when everyone comes to the office. To ensure that you can work as effectively as possible from home, OGE will provide you with equipment such as a monitor and docking station.
Had enough of your own four walls? Then why not take a workation? With us, you can do so twice a year and work from any other EU country for up to ten working days.
Paid leave and time off in lieu
We make sure you have the chance to relax and recharge sufficiently with 30 days of paid leave and up to eight flex days per year. We also offer you time in exchange for money: If you choose to pay part of your salary into a long-term account that earns interest, you have the chance to retire earlier or take a sabbatical, for example.
Family-friendly working
We know it can be hard to fit your job around day-to-day family life, so we want to help you with that: Depending on your job profile, you can work remotely and use flexitime. As part of a modern work environment, managers can also work part-time here. In addition, OGE offers a fixed contingent of places at a childcare centre in Essen and will also pay for emergency and holiday care. Our cooperation partner pme-Familienservice supports you and your family in various life situations – whether you’re looking for a childminder or home help or have questions about caring for loved ones. You can also get advice from the stress coach or listen in to our regular online seminars on various topics.
Further training and personal development
We want to ensure that you develop beyond your job with us, whether you want to expand your specialist expertise relating to your role, develop your knowledge of the industry, or work on your IT skills. Our knowledge platform OGE Campus offers a wide range of internal and external seminars – for example, on the basics of gas transportation, time management or self-marketing. In addition to team workshops and offsites, where your team regularly gains insights into other specialist areas, you have the opportunity to learn more about the world of OGE and our topics at various OGE live events. Managers are also offered one-to-one coaching.
Apprentices get special seminars, such as presentation training during the business games week.
Group events
We find that when we get to know each other, we work (even) better together. That’s why our summer parties and Christmas celebrations are a firm fixture in the OGE calendar. And it’s not only out dancing that we work up a sweat, but also with various company and charity runs. Apprentices can look forward to the annual junior staff gathering and team-building events right from the start, including the OGE sailing week in Glücksburg on the Baltic Sea.
